The sustainable cities movement initially had a significant focus on mitigating major challenges that provide a threat to our current form of civilization such as reducing climate change and many others.   After 25 years of work trying to “stop” the problems, with many successes and failures, the resilient cities movement has risen to prominence with an eye to not only work to avoid major problems, but also with an eye to surviving them if or when they do occur.
